May 29, 2008

NuStep Inc., a leader in wellness innovations and maker of the T4 Recumbent Cross Trainer, is a proud sponsor of “Healing Our Heroes,” the Foundation for Physical Therapy dinner dance that honors wounded military service members and the physical therapists who treat them, on June 12, during PT 2008, the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Annual Conference and Exposition in San Antonio, Texas.

“The Foundation for Physical Therapy is pleased to use its annual dinner dance in San Antonio this year to spotlight the many brave men and women in the military who are recovering from war-time injuries with the help of physical therapists,” said Foundation President Richard K Shields, PT, PhD, FAPTA. “The challenges before these patients are tremendous. Together, patients and physical therapists are working hard to rebuild the soldiers’ strength and regain mobility to continue to reclaim their lives. Their accomplishments are truly heroic.”

Physical therapists from the Center for the Intrepid rehabilitation facility in San Antonio, along with military patients undergoing rehabilitation at the facility, will be special guests at the Foundation’s dinner dance event. NuStep’s sponsorship will underwrite costs related to transporting the patients to the event and meeting any of their special needs that evening.

“NuStep is honored to be a sponsor of ‘Healing Our Heroes,’ ” said Steve Sarns, NuStep vice president of sales and marketing. “We are also grateful for the opportunity to celebrate the efforts of these dedicated physical therapists and their extraordinary patients and look forward to hosting them at our table.”

The Center for the Intrepid, which opened in January 2007, is a state-of-the-art rehabilitation and advance training skills facility for service members wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. Located at the Brooke Army Medical Center, in San Antonio, the Center serves the needs of catastrophically disabled military personnel who may require years of treatment and specialized rehabilitation.
