Press: NuStep, Inc. Adds New Software Features for T5 Recumbent Cross Trainers
May 27, 2009
ANN ARBOR, MICH. - NuStep, Inc., originator of the NuStep Recumbent Cross Trainer, is pleased to announce expanded features for the T5 Recumbent Cross Trainers with the addition of four new workout programs to the T5XR and new data tracking and export capabilities for both the T5XR and T5 models.
With the addition of four new options, the T5XR now offers a total of 13 workout programs. The new programs: target heart rate; constant speed (isokinetic); constant power and exercise protocols, will be introduced at the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) annual meeting May 27-30, 2009 in Seattle, Wash.
The exercise protocol programs, which were designed to be administered in a clinical setting, are comprised of a protocol for sedentary individuals and stroke patients and a protocol for healthy individuals aged 18-45. The protocols allow healthcare and exercise professionals to conduct initial fitness assessments and measure critical wellness outcomes over time. Sandra A. Billinger, PT, PhD, FAHA, a clinical instructor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science at the University of Kansas Medical Center, developed and validated the protocols.
In addition to the new workout programs, NuStep has added several new features for both T5 models including functionality to track workout data for up to 200 users or workout sessions. Users can download the data to a flash device through the USB port on the NuStep machine and import the results to a spreadsheet application on a computer.
Other new features include a lower workload level of zero for frail, deconditioned users; a “last workout” mode that allows users to repeat one of their last six workouts; and a workout “average” option that displays workout averages anytime during an exercise session.
“The new programs and the new features give clinicians and end-users more opportunities for experiencing a great workout on the T5 product line,” says NuStep Vice President of Research and Development, Mark Hildebrandt. “Our customers asked for these new features and we’re excited to provide them.”
